"Then he came to a city of Samaria, Sychar, beside the possession that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. And there was Jacob's well. Jesus, then wearied by his journey, sat on the well. And it was about the sixth hour. And there, a woman of Samaria came to draw water. And Jesus said to her, Give me a drink. (Because his disciples had gone away to the town to buy food.)
Then the woman of Samaria said to him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan? (Because the Jews do not meddle with the Samaritans.) Jesus answered to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who said to you, Give me a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given the water of life. The woman said to him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep, from where, then, have you water of life? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and himself drank from it, and his children, and his cattle?
Jesus answered, Whoever drinks this water will thirst again, But whoever will drink of the water that I will give him will never more be thirsty, but the water that I will give him will be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."
